Iran FM condoles martyrdom of Lebanese journalists

TEHRAN, Mar. 29 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of Lebanese journalists in Israeli strikes.

"This targeted assassination goes beyond eliminating individuals—it is an attack on the truth itself, aimed at silencing those who report reality. It flagrantly violates international protections for journalists, and the repeated crimes reveal a persistent, hostile effort to suppress freedom of expression,” he said.

Not only the martyrdom of Ali Shoaib, Fatima Fatuni and Muhammad Fatuni, the brave journalists from Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen networks, is a profound loss for the media community in the region and the world, but also a serious wake-up call for the global conscience, Iran’s top diplomat underlined.

The criminal act, which was clearly a targeted assassination with an intention beyond eliminating individuals, is considered a clear attempt to "assassination of the truth" and suffocate the voices of those who tell the truth.

The Zionist regime has a long history of targeting media elites, as with its other crimes, and this criminal and deliberate aggression, which is a clear violation of international laws and conventions governing the protection of journalists in conflict zones, like many global regulations, has never been able to create a barrier to the brutal nature of this regime, he said, adding that repetition of such crimes clearly indicates the continuation of a hostile approach aimed at restricting freedom of expression.
